Clearlake is a city located in Lake County, California. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 15,250, up from 13,142 at the 2000 census. It takes its name from Clear Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake wholly within California.
The city is located on the south shore of Clear Lake, within the Clearlake Riviera, and surrounded by hills. Clearlake is the second-largest city in Lake County by population, after Lakeport. The city has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12 km2), of which, 4.6 square miles (12 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (2.85%) is water.
The 2010 United States Census reported that Clearlake had a population of 15,250. The racial makeup of Clearlake was 8,030 (52.7%) White, 3,040 (19.8%) African American, 543 (3.6%) Native American, 586 (3.8%) Asian, 116 (0.8%) Pacific Islander, 1,642 (10.8%) from other races, and 1,023 (6.7%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,262 persons (21.4%).
