Rancho Mirage is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The city is located in the Coachella Valley between Palm Springs and Indio. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 17,218, up from 13,249 at the 2000 census.
Rancho Mirage was incorporated in 1973 from a merger of Mirage Cove with five unincorporated areas known as the Airport Land Use District. Although Rancho Mirage is not a resort town like its neighbors Palm Springs and Indian Wells, the city has recognized golf courses, shopping, and restaurants.
In January 2008, the Arnold Palmer Course at the Mission Hills Country Club was voted the best golf course in the Coachella Valley by the Desert Sun newspaper.
The city is home to the Eisenhower Medical Center, a large medical complex consisting of a hospital, clinic, and medical office buildings. The complex is home to the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center.
The city is also home to the Rancho Mirage Observatory, operated by the Riverside County Office of Education. The observatory sits on the campus of Rancho Mirage High School.
