City Rocklin is a city in Placer County, California, United States. The population was 66,135 at the 2019 census. Rocklin is the fifth largest city in Placer County.Rocklin is part of the Sacramento metropolitan area.
The City of Rocklin was incorporated on October 23, 1893. The city is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 30 miles from Sacramento, the state capital. Rocklin’s history is closely tied to the transcontinental railroad. In 1862, the Pacific Railroad Act granted land to the Central Pacific Railroad Company to build a transcontinental railroad. The rail line was completed in 1869 and passed through what is now Rocklin. The area was originally called Rocklin Station after the granite outcropping that served as a stopping point for the railroad. The town of Rocklin was eventually incorporated in 1893.
