City Thousand Oaks is a city located in Ventura County, California. The city sits approximately 40 miles from downtown Los Angeles and it is considered part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The 2010 census reported the city’s population to be 126,683, making it the 53rd-largest city in California.
The area now known as City Thousand Oaks was inhabited for many centuries by the Chumash people, a Native American tribe. The area was eventually deeded to the Spanish Empire in the late 18th century and became part of Mexico following the country’s independence from Spain in 1821. The area changed hands several times before being annexed by the United States in 1848 as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
City Thousand Oaks was incorporated as a city in 1964. The city is known for its large number of parks and open spaces, as well as for being home to the headquarters of a number of major corporations. The city is also home to a number of educational institutions, including California State University, Channel Islands and Pepperdine University.

1. Westlake Village
Westlake Village is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was estimated to be at 8,473 in 2014, up from 8,368 at the 2000 census. It is the site of the headquarters for the Dole Food Company.
The area was first settled by the Chumash people in the pre-contact era. The Spanish colonial period began in the late 18th century, when the area was included in Rancho Simi, a land grant given to the Pico family by the Spanish Crown. In the mid-19th century, the area was part of the 48,612-acre (19,770 ha) Rancho el Conejo land grant, given to two Spanish Basque brothers, Domingo and Vicente de la Guerra, by the Mexican government. It later became home to English, Scottish, Irish, and German immigrants.
The area was part of the stagecoach route between Los Angeles andSanta Barbara, California. In the early 20th century, the area was home to a dairy farm and a poultry ranch.
In the late 1960s, the area was developed into a planned community, known as Westlake Village. The development was designed by architect and urban planner Joseph Eichler and is notable for its greenbelts and open space.
The community is home to two country clubs, the Westlake Village Golf Club and the North Ranch Country Club. It is also home to the headquarters for the Dole Food Company and numerous other businesses.

3. Newbury Park
Newbury Park is a town in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 34,000 at the 2010 census.
Newbury Park is located at the western edge of the Greater Los Angeles Area, and is about 35 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. It is on the border of the San Fernando Valley and is in the Conejo Valley between the Simi Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains.
The town is located on the former ranch of Frederick Hastings Rindge, the last of the “Great landowners” of the Conejo Valley. Rindge’s widow, May K. Rindge, inherited the ranch after his death in 1905. As part of a family dispute, she sold off much of the ranch in 1916.
In 1921, the Newbury Park subdivision was created on part of the former ranch. The first houses in Newbury Park were built in the late 1920s.
Newbury Park quickly grew after the opening of the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101) in 1959, and soon became one of the largest communities in Ventura County.
