Poway is a city located in the north-central region of San Diego County, California, United States. Poway’s rural roots gave way to suburban growth in the late 20th century. The city is adjacent to several large unincorporated areas of San Diego County. Poway is a bedroom community with a population of 47,811 at the 2010 census.
Poway has a semi-arid Mediterranean climate. Temperatures range from an average low of 42 °F (5.6 °C) in December and January to an average high of 86 °F (30 °C) in August. The average rainfall is just over 10 inches (250 millimeters) per year. The wettest months are December and January, with an average rainfall of 2.17 inches (55 millimeters) each. There are an average of 14 days with measurable rain each year.
Poway is located at the southern end of the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, which provides miles of hiking and horseback trails. The preserve is also home to the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park. The city also operates several recreation facilities, including the Poway Community Park, Community Recreation Center, and Old Poway Park.

1. Rancho Bernardo
Rancho Bernardo is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 40,727 at the 2010 census. Rancho Bernardo is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Downtown San Diego in the foothills of the Peninsular Ranges. The CDP is bordered by Poway to the east and Rancho Peñasquitos to the northwest.

Rancho Bernardo was originally part of Rancho San Bernardo, a 44,471-acre (180.17 km2) Mexican land grant given in 1842 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Juan Maria Osuna. Osuna’s rancho included the southernmost portion of the present-day CDP.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Rancho Bernardo was the site of a series of murders committed by a man known as the “Rancho Bernardo Rapist” and the “I-15 Killer.”
2. 4S Ranch
4S Ranch is a census-designated place (CDP) in the northern San Diego County, California. 4S Ranch is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of downtown San Diego, and about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. The community is adjacent to the city of Rancho Santa Fe. The 4S Ranch CDP has a total area of 7.8 square miles (20.2 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,860 people, 590 households, and 524 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 238.6 inhabitants per square mile (92.0/km2). There were 604 housing units at an average density of 77.1 per square mile (29.7/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 84.91% White, 0.81% African American, 0.05% Native American, 12.13% Asian, 0.81% from other races, and 1.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.35% of the population.
There were 590 households, out of which 50.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 80.5% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.3% were non-families. 6.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.17 and the average family size was 3.33.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 32.3% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 34.8% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $118,846, and the median income for a family was $120,833. Males had a median income of $85,000 versus $52,083 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $44,376. About 2.5% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.2% of those under age 18 and 3.7% of those age 65 or over.

4. Rancho Peñasquitos
