Lindsay is a city in the San Joaquin Valley in Tulare County, California, United States. The population was 11,768 at the 2010 census.
Lindsay is located in the heart of California’s agricultural region and is known as the “Gateway to the Sequoias.” The city is home to many large-scale farming operations, as well as Lindsay Olive Oil, one of the largest producers of olive oil in the United States.
The city was founded in 1908 by James Burnett Lindsay, a Scottish-born Canadian who came to the area to build a railroad. Lindsay later served as the city’s first mayor.
The city’s economy is largely based on agriculture, with many of the city’s residents working in the farming industry. Lindsay is also home to a number of manufacturing and distribution businesses.
The city is served by the Lindsay Unified School District. Lindsay is also home to a community college, College of the Sequoias.
